Happy New Year 2004!

Happy New Year! Let's hope that this year will bring smiles and happiness to everyone from all walks of life especially the sick and needy.

Speaking of which, here's a story that will surely touch your heart. It shows the true meaning of kindness and such selfless acts should be encouraged. Scroll down that page and read the story on "A Kid's Battle Against Cancer".

If only there were more like him and his support crew, the world would certainly be a better place for everyone. It's not about reward, it's not about gratitude - it's about what you can do to help others that really matters. Forget about not wanting to go into all that trouble - sometimes people just don't try hard enough when it comes to helping others out. That story is a classic example of how people can help others - even a total stranger.

As Helen Keller once quoted:
I am only one; but still i am one. I cannot do everything, but still i can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do

This quote tells us that no matter how small your contribution is, whether it is just a mere word of encouragement - it does count. No one can do everything, but at least try and do something to help others, ones who are in need of help.

I hope the Year 2004 will see more people like him (and his support crew) who are willing to go the extra mile just to help others in need.

Edit (January 7th 2004):
We've lost our little fighter, fruit_loops on 5th January 2004. My condolences goes out to fruit_loops` family and may his soul rest in peace. His presence and fighting spirit has touched many hearts in this world and I hope that many people would emulate what Pdx.Sierra did. Just remember - every little bit counts, even if it is a simple word of encouragement.
