Malaysian Grand Prix 2003 Qualifying Highlights

Today's Malaysian Grand Prix 2003 final qualifying session sure is a surprising one, with Spaniard Fernando Alonso and team-mate Jarno Trulli at the front row instead of what was expected to be an all Ferrari front row. Speculations are now rising on how much fuel load the two Renaults are carrying, but i think they're carrying a lot less fuel compared to the other runners on the grid. We'll just have to wait and see tomorrow when exactly they have their first pit stops.

Sauber Petronas driver Nick Heidfeld managed to put on a solid qualifying performance by finishing at P6, just 6 tenths of a second slower than Ferrari driver Rubens Barrichello in 5th place. Team-mate Heinz Harald Frentzen however, only managed P13 about 5 tenths of a second slower than Heidfeld as it seems that Frentzen may be on a different strategy. Last year's Malaysian Grand Prix winner, Ralf Schumacher sits way back at P17 after what seems to be a really bad qualifying session for him.

Here are the top 8 grid positions for today's final qualifying session:
