Fernando Alonso created history yesterday when he won the Hungarian Grand Prix by becoming the youngest F1 driver in history to ever win a grand prix at the age of 22 years old. Alonso went from pole to podium in what seemed to be a lonely race for him as he led for most of the time. Thanks to Renault's excellent launch control system, Alonso was able to get away from the start to the first corner without any difficulties.
Another driver worth mentioning is Ralf Schumacher who spun in the first lap of the race and clawed back all the way from 19th to finish 4th. He managed to overtake a lot of drivers along the way, including his brother Michael who had a poor start an overall bad race. Ralf almost managed to overtake Montoya who spun around lap 60 with 10 laps to go but failed to overtake him as Montoya managed to recover quite well from the spin.
Michael's race was not a very good one, partly because of the need to "restart" his engine during his second pit stop and it costed him a couple of seconds. Then he was "trapped" behind a slower Jarno Trulli and didn't managed to overtake him despite several attempts on the Italian driver.
From the Championship point of view, Williams is now ahead of Ferrari by 8 points. On the other hand, in the Drivers Championship, only 1 point separates the top 3 championship contenders of Michael Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoya and Kimi Raikkonen. The last 3 races of the season should be an interesting one to watch and it'll be a fight to the finish !
